Disney Movie Charades

Disney Movie Charades – Disney is one of those things that many families embrace. It can stem from your childhood and having a love for all the classic films and characters.

You may have visited some of the iconic Disney World or Disneyland resorts as a child and found yourself sharing your enthusiasm for it with your children.

If Disney wasn’t part of your childhood as a parent you know it is a safe option for your children. With wonderful films and excellent TV series and cartoons, you guarantee that your children will remain engaged and enjoy what they see.

Disney isn’t just about the movies and TV series, or even heading to the famous parks, it can even be the toys that your children play with and be the inspiration for the crafts that you might do with them.

You can also play games that are Disney-inspired and one of the ones I wanted to share with you is Disney Movie Charades. This is an easy to put together game and the below printables make things simple.

It could be something that you set up with the family, get your children involved with, or you get it all set up ahead of time. It won’t take too long to set this game up but it could provide hours of entertainment.

Alongside that, there are many variations that will allow you to expand upon this. So without further ado, here is everything you need to set up and play Disney Movie Charades.

Everything you need to play Disney Movie Charades

You don’t need too many things in order to set up this game and enjoy it with friends, family, or children. But here is a short list that will help you get to the stage where you can enjoy playing it.

  • The printables with the instructions and also the movies to cut out and folded over so nobody can see what they are.
  • Scissors
  • A bowl or jar to place the movies in
  • Two or more players to play. The more the merrier. You could change things up and have teams as well.
  • A space where players can sit and a space where one player can act out the movie.
  • A timer. This is optional but can keep things competitive.

How to Play Disney Movie Charades

Now that you have everything that you need and have set up the game here are the instructions on how to play it. You can easily print them off but if you don’t have the opportunity to do so then here is a quick run down.

  1. Choose a player to start the game.
  2. The player then picks one of the movie suggestions to act out in front of the other players. They will need to act out the movie title without speaking.
  3. The player then proceeds to pantomime the movie titles in front of the other players for them to guess the correct answer.
  4. The first person to guess the word or phrase wins.
  5. If you decide to play in teams if you have a few players joining in then the person will pantomime the movie title to their team hoping that they will guess it right. Or you could pantomime the move to both teams and the first team to get it right wins the point.
  6. Keep track of all the points for each player individually or in teams, so that at the end you can see who has won. Use a timer to keep it interesting when guessing so that it doesn’t go on for too long.

Notes and tips

While it is a relatively straightforward game to set up and play, there are a few pointers to make things easier that I wanted to share with you.

  • If you have a fair few players, splitting into teams can be easier. You can choose to do this in two teams, or have more teams of two. It can be fun playing as a part of a team and may allow the game to go on a little longer.
  • If you can think of any other movie suggestions add them into it. The more options you have, the more fun the game will be. It will also help to make the game a little longer.
  • Keep scissors away from children. It might be quicker and easier to get an adult to do this part.
  • A timer can make it a little more competitive.

Variations to try

Of course, like with anything, there are variations that you might want to try. So here are a few suggestions.

  • Don’t just leave it to movie titles. Why not make things a little more interesting and add characters as well? You could even add well-known movie theme tunes and then stipulate whether it is a film, song, or character by agreeing to certain actions that will help identify it.
  • Children can have a lot of fun with this on their own but it can also be a great game to play as a family. You could also make this adults-only if you have any Disney fans amongst you.
  • Make it interesting by adding a forfeit for the losing players or team.

FAQs

Often with things like this, there are some questions that you might want to answer, so here are a few of the common ones to help you when setting this up or playing the game. However, if you still have a burning question please feel free to get in touch or leave a comment.

How many players can enjoy this game?

It is easier to play this game with a few players. You can have a minimum of two but the maximum is entirely up to you. If you do have more than five players it might be easier to play this game in teams.

That way you can all have a go and it can get very competitive between the teams. You don’t have to leave it as two teams either, you could split into three or four teams, depending on how many players you have.

You can allow all teams to guess or have a player pantomime just for their own team with a timer to try and win their team the point.

How long does the game take to play?

Again this is down to how many players and how quick you can guess. There is no rush with it and it can be one of those games that lasts a while.

Make sure you have ample time to play so that everyone gets a go and you can decide on a winner.

Enjoy playing Disney Movie Charades.
